Well, it's 5:00 in the morning and I've been awake for the last hour and a half. Asher is sleeping through the night for the first time in weeks--praise God!--and I, of course, am not. Alan and I both woke up around 3:00, looked at eachother, checked the boy, laughed at one another for even being awake, and then...Alan fell promptly to sleep. I, on the other other hand, stared at my pillow, shifted positions a few times, and prayed for just about everyone i know twice. It is the beginning of Lent, and last night I preached at our Ash Wednesday about how we're entering a time of quiet and contemplation -- a time to clear out space for God and joyfully repent of all the things that entangle us. I couldn't help but wonder if God is holding sleep at bay tonight, forcing me into the quiet that I've past by in the busyness of life and church and Asher. That, or this is just some great cosmic joke :). Anyways, below are a few middle-of-the-night catch-up-posts. May the Lord bless you and keep you each as we enter into the quiet of Lent.
6 1/2 month stats:
- 14 lbs 3 oz (he's up to the 5th percentile!)
- 25 1/2 inches long (25th percentile)
Just before he turned 6 months, Asher suddenly learned how to sit up. And now, he loves sitting. Alan even takes him to basketball games where they sit next to eachother on the bleachers and watch the game...apparently Asher sits with a very serious expression on his face and watches the ball go back and forth. I haven't seen it yet, but apparently it's hilarious :).
It's hard to believe that a kid with this amount of chub is so little...oh, and he's playing with one of his favorite toys--Noah's Ark, a gift from our great neighbors.
To celebrate Alan's birthday and Asher turning 6 months, we went on our first snowshoeing adventure here in Idaho. It was sunny and snowy and beautiful. Alan & I love snowshoeing, so we were glad that Asher enjoyed it as well, though we did have to take a nursing break in the snow. That was a bit chilly...

Gretchen came out to celebrate her birthday a bit early. She was our favorite snowshoeing partner in Spokane, so it was so fun to have her join us again.
Most mornings, Asher sits on our bed and plays while i take a shower. Here is one of his toys...Lenny the Lion (he also has Benny the Lion, but that's another story altogether).
